Hello! Thank you for asking on HCM! Regarding your concern, I would explain that, if your BP values continue to such high values (140 to 160 mm Hg), than you are considered to have borderline high to grade 1
hypertension. In that case, I recommend you to closely monitor your BP values at least for a week (more than 3 times during the day), to confirm an exact average BP situation, and also perform some additional tests, like
complete blood count (to rule out possible anemia),
thyroid hormone levels, liver and renal function tests, blood electrolytes, etc.
Besides your
high BP values you have no declared obvious coronary risk factors, so you are considered almost in low risk for future coronary events.
My recommendations are to control your high BP values (if they are persistently confirm to start a monotherapy, like an ACEI, ARB, acalcium channel blocker, etc), and try to reduce your weight as it contributes to coronary risk profile. YO should continue to avoid smoking contacts, follow a healthy physically active life style, and a healthy diet too (
Mediterranean diet is highly recommended).
Hope to have been helpful! Greetings! Dr. Iliri
