Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Thank you. My BP has been high most of my life. My mother and two of my sisters have high blood pressure. However, I am concerned about mine. My blood pressure can go ad high as 150/160 and remain at 137/100. Is this normal or should I visit a cardiologist?
Hello Welcome here. You have family history of hypertension. BP 137/100 is not worrisome. But you have to be cautious when your bp increases to 150/160.
You must have some lifestyle modifications:
Regular and brisk morning walk for atleast 30 minutes Restrict use of salt in your diet. A regular bedtime routine. Eat healthy including fruits and green vegetables. Practice relaxation exercises like deep breathing and meditation. Avoid fatty and oily food.
Keep a regular follow-up with your cardiologist.
Thanks.
