Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter is 33 with 2 small children, she has just been told by her Doctor she has high blood pressure 190/85. The doctor referred to the type of Contraceptive pill she is on. She will have a monitoring band on her this Monday for the day. Is this something I as her mother should be really worried about. I have told her to go off the conraceptive pill as of today. Also she has had endometriosis.
Hi welcome to HCM. I understand your query and concern. Contraceptive pills are the main cause of elevated blood pressure in your daughter's case.I advise you to have a baseline 2 dimensional echocardiography,ECG and lipid profile to assess the basic cardiac reserve of your heart.Restrict the intake of salt to less than 6g/day.Regular physical exercise in the form of brisk walk for 20 min a day for 5 days a week is pretty useful.Drugs like antihypertensives like beta blockers and ace inhibitors will help.Reduce the intake of fatty and fried food. Endometriosis can be managed with other depot hormonal preparations. Its always safe to maintain your blood pressure under 125/80 mm of hg pressure.Consult a Cardiologist as well as Gynecologist for further expert management.Post your further queries if any. Thank you.
