Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mother-in-law is 64 yrs and she has been continously maintaining Diastolinc Blood Pressure in the range of 187 to 205 and systolic Blood Pressure in the range of 85 to 105. It is not reducing despite taking medicines and full diet control. Her pulse rate is also fluctuating from 90 to 103.
Diagnosis of high blood pressure must be made after recording the blood pressure on 3 consecutive days at the same time of the day and in the same position and arm. The blood pressure must be recorded after the patient is at rest for 30 minutes. If she still has persistently increased blood pressure over 140/ 90 mm Hg then the first remedy is to decrease salt in diet and medications always need to be given only by a doctor after doing basic heart tests.
