Suggest Treatment For High Fever And Strep Infection In A Child

7 year old daughter has a fever for 7 days now. positive for strep, treated w/ bacillin shot, 5 days ago, still has fever. went to back to MD yesterday, was given clindamycin, first dose yesterday, 3rd dose this afternoon, fever spiked to 102!!!! getting really frustrated and scared

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have high fever and strep infection which is due to poor immunity of body and bacterial infection. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to avoid intake of cold liquids. Avoid intake of excessive oily, fried and spicy food. You should do warm saline gargles on daily basis and take steam inhalation as well. You should take antibiotic Ciprofloxacin and antihistamine Levocetrizine for 3-4 days. Do tepid sponging as well. Give child oral re-hydrating solution as well. Visit pediatrician/ ENT specialist once if symptoms keeps on persisting and get blood tests and throat swab done and start treatment after proper diagnosis.
