My 5 year old daughter has leucocytes in urine but negative for nitrates, she has frequent mild abdominal pain and she has developed a pimply rash in the past 3 weeks which the gp thinks is a possible allergic reaction to something. She has been prescribed trimethoprim antibiotics. She is asthmatic and has steriod inhalers. Thank you for reading
Dear- thanks for using our system . Your daughter can have allergy to sulfa antibiotics, so it is better to tell the pediatrician about this situation . The leucocytes in urine might indicate infection ,if she has had prior antibiotic treatment, the results can show leucocytes and no nitrites. It will be advisable to get urine sample for culture and sensitivity to see if able to isolate the organism causing the symptoms. It might be a resistant bacteria and that is why she still symptomatic. I hope that my advise has been helpful, please hit thanks if it was Dr.JC
