Hi I am a 64 year old female on 3 separate blood pressure tablets and my blood pressure taken just now is 149/78 pulse rate 104 my pulse rate is consistently above 90 my GP seems more interested in my blood pressure than my high pulse rate is this right? I was advised to contact my GP after a spell in Hospital for a Knee replacement when they felt that my high pulse rate should be investigated
Hi welcome to HCM. Elevated pulse rate in your case has to evaluated through a baseline ecg and 24 hour holter ecg monitoring. These can document arrhythmia.drugs like beta blockers and adenosine will help to reduce the heart rate.Electrophysiological study of heart can help to document the ectopic focus.Radiofrequency ablation can help to offer permanent cure.Consult your cardiologist for further care. Thank you.
