Hi,I am Dr. Robert Galamaga (Hematologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mom has been on a diuretic for the last two years. Went for a routine blood test today and her DR. called and said her sodium level was 94. He said this was
low and she should stop the diuretic. I have just read info about low sodium levels and is this treatment enough? He said her last blood test 6 months ago the level was a little low but this time it was significantly low.
1.Diuretcs should be stopped immediately 2.High sodium diet , salt capsules or sachet can be given 3. Immediate correction is contraindicated since it lead to CPM 4. proper monitoring of sodium level is must 5 .If any change in behaviour surely shows low levels
