Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I received a call on Friday from a nurse with my lab results. I was informed that my A1C level was 9.1. and they gave me an appointment for this coming Wed. I am not very knowledgeable about diabetes but I did have my girlfriend check my sugar level and it is 323. My pressure is slightly up also. I was told if I drink water throughout the night I should be fine until I get to the doctor tomorrow. What do you think?
Hi,welcome to HCM. You seem to have uncontrolled diabetes mellitus considering elevated levels of Hb1ac.This test indicates average glucose control over past 4 months.Your random blood glucose is quite too high. This has to be treated with antidiabetic drugs like metformin or gliptans.Blood pressure can be managed with drugs like metolar xr or cardiopril.SCreening 2 dimensional echo is needed to evaluate heart function.Consult your cardiologist for further help Thank you
