Suggest Treatment For Hip Pain After Doing Cartwheels And Splits
I was recently in a musical where i was required to do a cartwheel into the splits. I am naturally very flexible but after about a week of shows i developed pain at the front of my leg up near my hip. I had 3 weeks of shows remaining and contiued with greater caution. Since it ended i have been very carefull and have refrained from any deep stretches in hope that everything would heal and feel better. It has now been a monthand i stretched and attempted the splits tonight and was not even close to being able to. Any ideas what i injured or how to help along my healing? Thanks.
There are numerous causes for pain around the front of the hip. You seem like quite an athletic person so what comes to mind are Muscular spasms and Labral tears.
Labral tears present with pain around the hip and is made worse by flexing the thigh and internally rotating it.
I would suggest you Rest! For atleast 2 weeks and take a course of NSAIDs, perhaps brufen.
If symptoms still persist after that then I would recommend an MRI and a consult to the orthopaedic surgeon.
