My mother 62 years old having hypertension and diabetes was admitted to hospital with breathing trouble and disorientaction problem. Diagnosis revealed that she has pneumonia. After 2 weeks long stay at hospital, she got discharged from hospital on 28th Nov-2014. But she is still having same problem since discharge though CBC done yesterday shows total WBC count as 5300. She is also having fever Upto 102 F. Sodium and potassium count is in the lowerside. Pls advise.

hi looks like she has multiple problems. IT COULD BE RESISTANT PNEUMONIA GOING INTO SEPSIS. i suggest you to meet the treating physician get her admitted & go for better antibiotic coverage. meanwhile blood culture, sputum culture, urine culture can be done to rule out the specific organism with sensitive antibiotic. deranged electrolytes at this stage can also be an added factor for many other complications even involving the heart, like arrythmias. oral supplements for potassium & sodium can be given under medical supervision. all the best take care
