Hi,
Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
You are having a mild decrease in thyroid gland function. We need additional tests before starting you on medications
1. T4 or Free T4, T3 or free T3
2. Anti thyroid
antibodies to look for cause of thyroid disease
3.
Serum cholesterol values
Please share with us few more details like marital status, age, pregnancy status etc.
Hypothyroidism is treated by thyroid hormone replacements.
Diet - depends on cause of hypothyroidism. If
iodine deficiency is the cause - diet rich in iodine like sea foods, fortified salt etc can be consumed. Diet that decrease iodine level like cabbage, cauliflower, tapioca has to be decreased. In auto immune hypothyroidism (Hashimoto's) no diet modification is needed.
Your physician/
endocrinologist will be able to guide through your treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
With warm regards,
Dr Ajish TP (MD,DM)
Consultant Endocrinologist.
