Yes please. I have just been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I have had rapid pulse and nervousness as well as thirst and weight loss since oct 1, 2014. I asked endocrinologist if I have Grave's and didn't really get an exact answer. I think she said my symptoms are unclear. I asked her nurse today and she said the doctor did not indicate graves in my records. She diagnosed hyperthyroidism. Can I develop Graves disease?

General & Family Physician, Dr. B M Gupta's Response
Welcome Grave's disease is also the leading cause of hyperthyroidism, a condition in which the thyroid gland produces excessive hormones. Once the disorder has been correctly diagnosed, it is quite easy to treat. In some cases, Graves' disease goes into remission or disappears completely after several months or years. Left untreated, however, it can lead to serious complications -- even death. Although the symptoms can cause discomfort, Graves' disease generally has no long-term adverse health consequences if the patient receives prompt and proper medical care. Take care.
