Hi, I m a 50 years old male and my last blood test returns an increased TSH level of 7.72 mIU/L and T4 free 13.8 pmol/L. For the last 7 years my thyroid test results were about in the same range. No abnormal findings during the thyroid ultrasound performed 4-5 years ago...Is this a sign of Hypothyroidism? Thanks

General & Family Physician, Dr. B M Gupta's Response
HI Welcome to H C M . Though normal T S H level is 0.4 umU/ml to 4.6(varies from Lab. to Lab.) Doctor wouldn't start treatment unless T S H is more than 10 with symptoms . If you are having no problem ,relax.no need to investigate ,it is just wastage of time & money. You discuss your problem with your doctor. Take care. Thanks.
