Suggest Treatment For Ingrown Hairs On The Elbow Region

Yesterday, I kept picking at a couple ingrown hairs on my right eyebrow with a pair of tweezers that werent very sterile. I wasnt very sterile about the process but realize now I probably should have been. Anyway, within hours I noticed it was very tender to the touch. I also noticed that its become real hard and swollen underneath the skin, and is spreading quickly. Ive had a similar situation about a year ago on my arm and it wound up being a full blown staff infection. I am very concerned cause I know its probably another staff infection, and I do not have insurance at this time. My girlfriend has some topical samples for clyndamycin 1% I started puttin that on it as of this (clyndamycin 1%) orning, but technically they expired 2 yrs ago If it is a staff infection... would the topical antibiotic be enough if I use it everyday 3x daily?

Hi. The description is consistent with staph infection. Topical clindamycin alone might not suffice. Take an oral antibiotic like cephalexin. Hot compress would help in reducing pain and swelling. It should show signs of improvement in 48 hours. But, you have to continue treatment for 5-7 days. For future, use trimmers to avoid development of ingrown hairs. Hope it helps
