If I was the treating doctor I would have started you on Oral antibiotics for a week e.g either Flucloxacillin Or Cephalexin. That should take care of the infection. It is important to clean the wound with an antiseptic solution e.g betadine and keep it covered with a sterile gauge dipped in betadine. Once the wound begins to heal you may use an OTC antibacterial e.g 2% mupirocin ointment twice daily. An OTC oral antiinflammatory e.g Ibuprofen will provide you symptomatic relief from pain and swelling. Regards
