I went to my convenient care on Wednesday of last week. They told me I have an inner ear infection and gave me amox-clav prescription for it. I have been taking it twice a day and the ear pain has gotten worse as well as now I have pain in the whole left side of my head and pain goes down my neck. Could this be something more serious? Should I just wait it out or go make a Dr. appointment?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Read and understood your history of increasing pain from the left ear to the neck and head in spite of Amox-clav combination given at a convenient care on Wednesday. The dose of Amox-clav is thrice daily and not twice daily hence might not have worked for your problem of the supposedly inner ear infection. Yes, this can be something serious and you should consult a Doctor , preferably an ENT Surgeon for clinical evaluation, examination and proper treatment with another antibiotic, anti-inflammatory medicines, decongestants and whichever are required in addition as thought by your Doctor.
I hope this answers your query.
