Suggest Treatment For Irregular Menstrual Cycle

Hi Doctor,I did not get my periods for last 3 months and i have a history of irregular menstrual cycle (I m unmarried). Doctor prescribed me Norgest 5mg for 4 days to get periods. Is that suggestion good ? Will that medicine have any side effects in the future. Also doctor suggested to take that tablet, if I don t get periods within 45 days for every cycle. Please advice me.
