Suggest Treatment For Irregular Periods

I started a birth control called Lomedia in May or June of 2014. I started this pill because I was constantly bleeding and it would only stop for a number of days. My periods were heavy, painful and irregular. At the time, I weighed around 120 pounds. I am currently 18 and now weigh 144 pounds. I have never been this much in my life and I am very frustrated. My question is...should i stop taking my birth control or not? Will it take my gained weight off if I stop?

Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Weight gain is a major side effect of oral contraceptive pills. . It is due to the hormonal content in the drug. If the weight gain is worrisome then you should stop taking them and go for other methods of contraception like implant or copper T. Along with it, you have to improve your diet and do exercise to reduce weight.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.
