Hormonal imbalance is the main cause of delayed or irregular or scanty menstrual bleeding. The cause of irregular periods such as polycystic ovaries, obesity and hypothyroidism should be identified and treated effectively.
Ultrasound pelvis, FSH LH hormone ratio, thyroid profile and blood sugar level, body mass index is essential to identify the cause of irregular periods. Hormonal treatment should be continued for a few more cycles and the all the above parameters should be monitored frequently to increase the chance of pregnancy.
