Suggest Treatment For Irregular Periods
Hi doctor , my daughter is 13.5 yrs old having irregular periods , Doctor has advised her to take femilon for 6 months & consult after 9 months . Is it right medication..will periods become regular...what are side effects....will it create any problem during pregnancy later on..what should be the diet chart..any precaution . I have asked a lot...please advise... Thank you..

Yes, Femilon is a good drug. It is used to regularize periods. It can be used for 6 months and later can be stopped. Periods will get regularized in most of the cases. Taking Femilon now doesn't have effect on pregnancy as it is used only for 6 months. No specific diet regulations are needed. It's better to avoid refined foods containing carbohydrates and excessive fatty foods.
Give her more protein and fiber and nuts. Please encourage her with moderate physical activity like by indulging in any sports or exercising daily for at least 30 mins. Side effects are present but they are temporary like nausea, headache, acne, depression, breast pain etc. All these are manageable and don't last long. So please go ahead and give your daughter Femilon for 6 months.
