Suggest Treatment For Irritation In The Prosthetic Eye

I have a prosthetic left eye and recently it has basically become irritated and I ve noticed when I wiped it with a Kleenex that there s blood on the Kleenex. When I clean the prosthetic eye and place it back in it seems to be fine for certain timeframe. I have recently changed jobs and I do handle more money in my new position and wondering if this could be a cause of the irritation to the point of causing me eyelids to bleed when I am wiping my eye? I do have systemic lupus and I ve been placed on Benlysta.

Hello,

A prosthetic eye is required when due to some reason like Panophthalmitis enucleation has been done, and the prosthetic eye is fitted mainly due to cosmetic reasons. Ocular movement is to be ensured so that it will be a perfect prosthesis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashok Kumar Dash
