SHE JUST GOT HER PERIOD FOR THE FIRST TIME AFTER GIVING BIRTH..FEELS GREAT BUT LIPS ARE INFLAMED AGAIN AS OF YESTERDAY
This could very well be herpes labialis. Recurrence and location seem to favor the diagnosis of herpes labialis. Pregnancy, Immediate postpartum period and premenstural flare are all well known associations of Herpes labialis Herpes labialis presents as grouped discrete vesicles Or erosion's involving one or both lips and sometimes the area around. The lesions are self resolving in about 5-7 days. It may be recurrent. Itching and burning sensation are part of the eruption. I would suggest that she visits a dermatologist for a confirmatory diagnosis. The diagnosis is usually obvious on clinical examination. Treatment of Herpes labialis is with Oral Acyclovir Or Valacyclovir. Topical OTC antibacterial e.g 2% Mupirocin ointment may be used twice daily to prevent secondary bacterial contamination.
