I have a red, itchy line running down the underside of my penis. I am certain it is not an STD because i have not been sexually active in over 5 years. I use hydrocortizone and antibiotic ointment and it goes away often for a month at a time and then returns. When I tried ointment for jock itch it burned and got very raw. After one use of this, I stopped because of the pain.
I can understand your concern for the present situation.
After reading your complete query with diligence I can make out that you are suffering from recurrent candidal (fungal) infection of the glans penis area and due to application of steroid cream there is a dependence of steroid at the area.
It can also be due to fungal infection of the area. You have not told us your age and any history of diabetes. I suggest you to go for your blood sugar check up. I also request you to kindly stop using the cream immediately and meet a dermatologist for best diagnosis. Wash your penile area for two times in a day. You can use a mild soap to wash the area.
My best wishes for good health. Dr. Sanjay Kumar Kanodia
