Suggest Treatment For Itchy Penis In A Child

My 6 yr old grandson has a real problem with the head of his penis itching. I have used calamine lotion and even given him IBProphen so he can sleep. Sometimes he can cant sit still and is always scratching himself. Please help us. The Dr. said nothing to worry about but he is miserable. I have heard in some cases , he may need antibiotics..but what should he take? Thank you

Hello,

Itching on the penis has to be due to fungal growth. You must try to clean the inside of the penis foreskin because that is where the fungus grows if it is left uncleaned.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr K. V. Anand, Psychologist
