Suggest Treatment For Itchy Rashes On The Forearms
when exposed to sun, I get an itchy rash on both forearms in the same spot. It looks a bit like poison ivy. It happens every year as the summer comes around. I use sun block, but exposure is inevitable as I am a gardener by trade, and these lesions come back. If I would scratch them, they would bleed. Concerned it might be skin cancer, but maybe as simple as sun rash. Any ideas?
Hi. As per your case history you are having polymorphic light eruption. My treatment advice is - 1. Avoid sun exposure and use a good sunscreen lotion with spf more than 30. 2. Apply a mild topical steroid cream like mometasone cream on spots twice daily. 3. Take a vitamin c supplement once daily for 3 months. 4. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for itching. 5. Other treatment options are oral steroid, hydroxy chloroquine, antioxidant tablets taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
