Suggest Treatment For Jock Itch

Hi my husband is experiencing jock itch. His mother has been diagnosed with mrsa and we are wondering if the jock itch could have anything to do with contracting mrsa from being at her house over h holidays?
He is 49 and has never had jock itch before and is very healthy.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain jock itch is a fungal infection of the groin area while MRSA is Methacillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus that is a bacterial infection..
MRSA is contagious and can be transmitted in case if you come in contact with active lesion or clothes of infected person..
So you need to consult a Dermatologist and get evaluated and he can do a clinical examination and investigations like culture of the lesion, blood test etc to rule out the exact cause of infection and treatment can be planned accordingly..
In case of jock itch topical application of antifungal ointment and maintaining cleanliness in the area and wear loose fitting and cotton undergarments..
While in case of MRSA that is a relatively severe infection and dies not resolve with antibiotics first of all testing for sensitivity of antibiotics and treatment with combination of two or more antibiotics Oral as well as topical will help..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
