Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve been taking gabapentin (neurontin) for two weeks now. First week was one dose and second week is two. About a couple days ago I started feeling weak and then yesterday everything started hurting like I was sore and now today all my joints hurt and im getting shooting pain in my hip and down my leg. I have bertolotti s syndrome so obviously I was in a lot of pain before but this is a different kind of pain. Its all over now. Please help
I have studied your case and I think that pain which you are feeling right now is called sciatica. This pain is caused by disc herniation and compression of the nerves of the leg. To confirm this diagnosis I would suggest you to get MRI of the spine. If this MRI shows that you are having herniated disc in the spine than I would recommend you to show it to spine specialist who can decide if you will need a physiotherapy or surgical procedure. Physiotherapy consist of back muscle strengthening exercises and extension group of exercises. If disc herniation is in advance stage than treatment consist of surgery like Disectomy which can be done by endoscope or mini dissecctomy method. I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.I will try my best to help you.
