Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of
appendectomy, development of joint pains and bloated upset stomach. The pain started in the hips then move to the legs and now back pain and pain in the belly.
Although the appendectomy is not known to have such complications, it is still possible that the antibiotics or imbalance of the bacterial flora of the intestines might have caused the bad bacteria to overgrow, cause toxin release to cause the bloating, pain in abdomen and pain in the joints as you have explained. Very painful calcaneal or heel spur can be due to inflammation like
tenosynovitis.
I would advise you the following:
Repeated stool tests for 3 consecutive days.
Blood culture and sensitivity.
RA factors, Blood routine and calcium.
Clinical evaluation by a
General Surgeon and reference to Orthopedic Surgeon if need be.
Probiotics and multivitamins may help.
If any of the reports indicate so, a course of an antibiotic and
metronidazole may be warranted.
Further treatment as per the clinical evaluation and reports and its response to the treatment.
