Suggest Treatment For Kidney Failure While On Rituxan
My husband suffers from kidney failure. He has undergone two kidney transplants over the past 12 years and is back on hemodialysis. Over the past year it has become necessary to give him blood transfusions numerous times. It appears that his body has developed antibodies attacking his hemoglobin causing it to drop very low...sometimes in the 5 range. His body is producing the red blood cells without any problem, the problem is that these antibodies are destroying them. He has seen a Hematologist who has recommended he be given Rituxan. Reading the side effects has made me extremely nervous. Can you please share with me your thoughts as to this is the best treatment for my husband and if there are other medicines that could be used as well to treat this issue he is having. Thank you for your time.

As per my surgical experience, the Rituxan is modifying immune level response in many of the chronic ailments, so its mandatory after discussion of side effects with your consultant to proceed ahead.
An extra consideration of erythropoietin disturbances via renal system is a major corner stone of the management responsible for low hemoglobin over period of times.
