Suggest Treatment For Knee Osteoarthritis

i am 57, male, having osteoarthritis in knee. though the pain gets vanished when i take pain killers but i am having deformity. i have consulted many doctors and they say that delaying knee replacement surgery may have bad effects on hip joints and spinal cord. but i have come across the fact that the surgery can be delayed if the pain gets reduced by other options(medicinal). can i delay the operation? will it have a bad effect on hip joints and spinal cord? plz help i am very confused.
