Hello, thanks for writing in. I understand your
anxiety and worries.
When we are evaluating an early
pregnancy,
gestational age by LMP as well as by fetal size is measured. Ovulation date is not a part of the calculation per se. In case of assisted
fertility treatments when the date of conception is known, it is easier to calculate fetal age.
Fetal heart beat appears at around approximately 6-7 weeks (later on trans-abdominal scans)
.
In cases of wrong dates, or
irregular periods we do not know the approximate time of ovulation or conception, and the age by LMP and actual fetal size may not match.
So it is suggested to wait and re-scan in 1-2 weeks, assuming patient has had no cramping or bleeding.
There is no treatment for an absent heartbeat.
Please discuss with your doctor about this.
Hope this is helpful.
All the best.
