Suggest Treatment For Lack Of Hunger, Weakness And Vomiting

My mother is 75, a diabetic and had her gallbladder removed a week ago. She is not hungry, feels sick, weak and anything she tries to eat she throws up after just about 2 bites. She does not have a fever n we are keeping her sugars up by OJ, Glucerna, etc. Should we be extremely concerned or is this normal?

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your clinical history and query, my opinion is as follows:
1. It is a bit of concern. She must be throwing up, possibly due to gastritis.
2. Proton pump inhibitors needs to be taken to reduce symptoms and regular diet needs to be started.
3. Watch out for fever or any delirious state, as in diabetes, infections can be a late and serious presentation.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
