Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son is 11 years old in class6.He is intelligent & learns every thing quickly. His problem is that he does not like to write as a result his class work is often incomplete. he does not write in exams & inspite of knowing the answers he scores very low in exams & tests. What to do
I went through your details. I suggest you not to worry much. There could be several possibilities. First you have to diagnose your child for dysgraphia. dysgraphia is a learning disability that makes writing difficult. Diagnosing dysgraphia isn’t common knowledge. Children with dysgraphia can sit in front of a blank piece of paper or computer screen. Three hours later the paper or screen are still blank. These kids often have wonderful and creative thoughts but can’t get them onto paper or a computer. They can tell you what they want to say but are unable to write it. For some, writing is such a slow and tedious process that they don’t have the patience to sit still long enough to write. So please take your child to a psychologist for diagnosis.
Then, if not dysgraphia, proceed further. You can contact me here for further possible causes and associated remedial measures. Please post a direct question to me in this website. Make sure that you include every minute details possible. I shall prescribe some psychotherapy techniques which should help you cure the condition further.
Hope this answers your query. Available for further clarifications. Good luck.
