Suggest Treatment For Leakage In Heart Valves With Shortness Of Breath

My dr. told me I have a leakage with my heart valve. I have noticed since I saw him in the fall Im getting worse when it comes to any physical activity. I cant breathe so sit and get back up to persue my activity. He wanted me to get another test done 2d color Doppler but have not done that as of yet. Hearing his first diagonosis was so overwhelming. If I don t get this fixed will I die? I can feel it is worsening with my shortness of breath and fatique.

Hi,

Whatever symptoms you have told may indicate valve problem, your doctor may have confirmed it by hearing your heart sound.

Though exact nature of valve problem will be evident after color doppler of heart, As advised by you Doctor (color doppler can be done Trans thoracic or through oesophagus food pipe)

Definitive treatment is surgery depending on valve involved nature of involvement like leak or obstruction or both, cause of valve problem.

Till decision of surgery certain medicine are necessary to maintain your heart rhythm, prevention of lung congestion.
