Hello dear , thanks for writing in. I would have liked to have more clarity on when you had your last delivery and when
mirena was inserted. And if you are
breastfeeding your child.
However, as I do not have the scan reports and your symptoms and the description of scan findings and
blood test do tell me that you could be pregnant . But this
pregnancy is not in your womb but it has happened either in your
fallopian tube ( commonest ) or your ovary ( less common ). Many a times ectopic pregnancy ruptures if left undiagnosed and it can be fatal. I must say you be got your tests just in time.
I m not quite sure what those fluid filled cysts are in the right ovary. But I do assume that is of not much importance as it could be pregnancy related
corpus luteum cyst which will go away.
Mirena does prevent intrauterine pregnancy but it doesn't have protective effect against pregnancy in the fallopian tubes.
I m more than sure that what you have is ectopic pregnancy and the treatment depends on the size of the mass, if baby heart beat is visible,
beta hcg levels and few other things. And it can be surgery or by medical method using injections depending on above mentioned factors. All I can say is, although it is unfortunate that you had ectopic pregnancy, it is easily treated and you will be back to normal after treatment.
Do remember to report to ER if you feel giddy or if pain increases anytime and not to ignore it.
Hope this helps. Take care!
