Suggest Treatment For Left Ventricular Failure And A Deficient Mitral Valve

We are English speakers with limited Spanish though we study and expect to improve.

My question is my husband was recently admitted to hospital and diagnosed with LVF and a deficient mitral valve following a catheter/cam of the heart. He has been prescribed Sintrom and has INR testing regularly. I am an RGN so can understand the implications if someone can talk to me. He still has oedematous legs, ankles, is breathless all the time, has nocturnal dyspnoea with paroxysms, no energy and has lost 14lbs in the last 2 weeks. He gets blue lips on exertion.

hello,i have gone through your question.Actually to guide you properly i need to have exact reports of echo and cath. However I presume that left ventricular failure is due to mitral valve regurgitation.I also need to know what is cause of deficient mitral valve,is it due to blockage in artery and ischaemic in origin?or it is due to childhood rheumatic fever?
but as on now first thing is to stabilise his left ventricular function, with medicines, oxygen and iv dobutamine. If he settles then we may consider surgery.Otherwishe medication with restricted activity will be line of treatment.my best wishes.Dr.Rajesh Teli,MD
