Suggest Treatment For Liver Failure And Hip Fracture
my huband was under hospice for liver failure, fell fractured his left hip. I had to take him off hospice to go see the surgeon and his hip is healed. He was placed in rehab for his hip therapy. Know his liver is bad and the are consulting the same Hospice care we had. I like to know can he get therapy at home for his hip under hospice. I cannot pay for it. I cannot work nor leave him. I remember reading that IF THE HOSPICE DOCTOR SAYS IT FOR COFORT NEEDS HE CAN IS THIS TRUE.
Comfort care is the primary goal of hospice. As far as therapy for a fractured hip, it would depend on the reason for the therapy. After surgery for a fractured hip, a patient is sent to rehab for strengthening the hip and improving mobility and independence etc. This might not be considered a necessary goal for a hospice patient. You would have to check with the hospice itself. But certainly physical therapy with a goal of reducing pain and suffering should be included under hospice. Ask the hospice specifically about that. They can arrange home visits and different types of therapy that would ease any discomfort he's having. Hope this helps.
