Suggest Treatment For Loose Stool Despite Taking Dicyclomine Hydrochloride
Hi Doctor, My daughter is having loose motion since yesterday. She has some gastric problem too. Yesterday we consulted a doctor and priscribed the following medicines. 1. ORS 2. Probiotic powder 3. Dicyclomine Hydrochloride & Simethicone suspension 4.Zinc gluconste oral solution We r following those. But still the problem exists. She is playful but not taking food/ORS other than feeding. Pls advice.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. Loose motions can be due to the following reasons: Viral that is stomach flu. Bacterial that is bacterial intestinal infection. Intolerance to any things of the foods and beverages. THe treatment given by your Doctor that is ORS, probiotic, zinc, simethicone is good for any of the above as symptomatic and supportive treatment and dicyclomin is given to slow down the intestinal movements and as antispasmodic. If there is no relief, send the sample of stool for tests and see if there is a bacterial infection. If there is a bacterial infection an addition of an antibiotic active against intestinal infection will solve the problem of your daughter. Also see if there is any intolerance and stop such products. Keep well hydrated.
