Suggest Treatment For Low Appetite And Bruise On Shoulder Post Injury

my father is 94 years old and took a fall yesterday from his bed..we called 911 but he didn't go the hospital - no apparent serious injury..he has some minor bruises on his shoulder - the prob. is he has been weak and not willing to eat or drink much over the past 36 hours...he has had a mild temp at time over the same time period - as high as 101 - as low at 97 - right now it's 100.8 - he is not drinking much and objects to any food or drink and just wants to sleep. I didn't want to bring him to the hospital just for an IV...any suggestions?

Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
I am Dr Rakesh Sharma answering your query.
You are right , he should be give intravenous fluids and other required medication.
If possible , you can arrange a home set up with a paramedic in attendance.
He will be benefited a lot.
Till then keep giving sips of oral fluids, sponge if fever is high.
Consult a doctor for other medication.
Good luck.
