Sunday, I came down with low grade fever (around 101), brief discomfort in lower back and abdomen and was Dx with UTI this past Tuesday. Been on Cipro since then and started to feel better (I was not feverish yesterday). I am almost done with the Tx (one more Cipro to take tomorrow). However, today I feel a bit feverish (99.3 F) again. Is UTI still not under control? What exactly is going on?
* As there is fever despite the course of cipro, there can be following of possibilities for fever and body ache as
- residual urinary infection
- lack of hydration
- emergence of super added infection apart from previous one
* In my clinic, I do recommend
- urine culture for drug sensitivity and type of organism involved
- urinary alkaliser
- care of hydration
- genital hygiene
- abstinence from sex
- blood sugar control.
