Suggest Treatment For Low Grade Fever And Eye Irritation

Hello my 2 yr old son has been suffering from a low grade fever for 3 days now. He has very little appetite and also seems to have some irritation in his eyes, mostly his right eye. Besides this he doesn t seem sick, he is playing and otherwise acting normal, except he has been more easily fatigued/cranky and gets sleepy sooner then usual. He just had a checkup and nothing seemed out of the ordinary, his height and weight being in the 95th and 83rd percentile respectively. I have treated the fever with childrens Tylenol when it spikes, which I believe was 3 times, the highest being slightly under 103, and I continually give him juice and water to keep him hydrated. But there are no other symptoms and he isn t complaining of anything else so I do not know if this is something I should concerned about?

The cause of the fever for me is still not clear. A temperature of 103 is not comforting to me.
If a paediatrician has seen the child already regarding the fever then it's ok to continue with the medications.
If he has irritation in the eye then it's better to get him checked immediately by an ophthalmologist, preferably a paediatric ophthalmologist.
The redness or irritation can be a manifestation of a systemic disease or can be a part and parcel of the fever. Due to fever sometimes there is lack of proper sleep. The cycles are not completed. This can cause redness. Also sometimes there is general redness of eyes when there is increase in body temperature. This is due to dilatation of the eye vessels to reduce the temperature.
