Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello Doctor, I got my self & my wife checked to the Doctor for conceving a baby, it has been 2 years to our marriage, the doctor has suggested me to take paternia tablet twise a day, though while seman report my sper count was 32million... i am using the tablet from the past two months but still we havent concevied the baby... please suggest what to do....
Hello and welcome to HCM. As an Urologist, i fully understand your concern. A sperm count of 20 millions/ml semen, can result in a pregnancy. But sperm count of 32millions, in an ejaculate(total volume of semen), of more than 1ml, is not normal. Hope you understand the difference. As your semen report isn't put up, i can only comment this much. Paternia alone, won't guarantee a pregnancy. Hope his male hormones like FSH,LH,PRL,testosterone, sugar,Hb,and a scrotal ultrasound scan have been done. If you want an expert opinion, you can send it, as a direct question. Dr.Matthew J. Mangat.
hello Thanks for query . You have not mentioned about other parameters of your semen analysis like percentage of active grade one sperms ,morphology of the sperms ,presence of pus cells in semen etc .
Only sperm count is not a deciding factor for fertilization of female egg to result into pregnancy but other factors like percentage of active grade one motile sperms and ,phonologically normal sperms play important role in conception .
You have low sperm count as compared to WHO standards (50-120)mil /ml and have been prescribed Paternia tablets .Truly speaking no medicine has been proved effective to increase sperm count .
You need to consult qualified Infertility Specialist after repeating your Semen Analysis with complete report .
