Suggest Treatment For Lower Back Pain

I have had back pain for a month now..lower region. I have also had pain under my left rib cage that comes and goes. Twice during the past week it has awoken me up during the middle of the night and been a shooting pain. My stomach occasionally makes funny noises like a gurggling sound, however I may have just eatin. Also this feeling of pain under my rib cage is accompanied by slight nausea but no vomiting. It seems to subside once I eat. I am thinking it may be a stomach ulcer but unsure would like a doctors opinion. Currently am a student without medical insurance so am curious whether I need to be seen by a physician or wait it out to see if my discomfort resides?
