Hello: I have lowerleft abdominal pain, lower left back pain and my belly is distended and hard.I am 44 years old, I had had my gallbladder removed and my appendix out as well. I took a home test for UTI and it was negative. Most everything I am reading says it could be diverticulitis or kidney stone. No fever, I AM passing gas, I HAVE had a bowel movement so not constipated. This has been happening since Sunday afternoon so about 48 hours now. Ona scale of 1-10 for pain, I am at about 7. I have a pretty high pain tolerance (hx of many surgeries with Cancer- (Melanoma, Astrocytoma of spine, cervical cancer)

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I really appreciate your concern, the given symptoms of abdominal pain could be due to stone condition of kidney or ureter. To rule this out, one has to get done the plain X-ray abdomen with ultrasonography, without this diagnosis is not possible. In differential diagnosis, it can be intestinal pathologies with infection. As I always say that abdominal symptoms are much challenging, it could demand many tests or investigations. Even after these, nothing specific comes out, then this is the functional kind of symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
