Have lumbar stenosis that is getting worse and seeing the doc Thursday but, wondering how often should I rest to take the pain away per day. I mean, I can t walk 30 minutes without wanting to sit and really don t like to stand. I know they (docs) want me to keep moving but, some days all I want to do is sit. So can you give me a rule of thumb to follow? Sometimes if I elevate my feet for awhile I am much better other times not.
I can understand your situation. Difficulty walking for long distances is a typical feature of lumbar stenosis. For this reason, I would recommend consulting a neurosurgeon and discuss on possible spinal surgery to improve your situation. Meanwhile it would be recommendable to avoid standing up or walking for a long time. Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Kind regards, Dr. Aida
