Suggest Treatment For Lump In The Jugular Vein

My 6.5 yr old son had a lump about the size of a large gumball or 50 cent piece on the left side back of neck towards jugular vein. It has been there for 3 to 4 years, his dr states it is a lymph node however it has gotten bigger over time. Every time we see his dr I question the lump but they always say not to worry. Also suddenly this weekend he tilts his head to the right and has done so for 3 days now and complains it is painful.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

This might suggest secondary infection of the lymph node. Kindly take him to doctor as this might need antibiotic treatment. Also, if it is progressively enlarging, it is better to get a blood count, ESR, and a peripheral smear done. You can discuss with your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
