Hi, I noticed 2 days ago a one or two Enlarged papillae on the front right side of my tongue. They are very very sensitive and painful, and caused me to bite my tongue. Now there is a little lump there. This has happened a few times over the years and it goes away but I was wondering what it was and how do I stop it from occurring? I don t smoke or drink, and have not been on any antibiotics recently. Thanks
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have lump under tongue. The symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons like squamous Papilloma , glossitis or transient Lingual Papillitis . It seems to me that the lumps occur due to enlargement of papillae , which occur due to various reasons like traumatic injury , hot and acidic food and allergic reaction from certain food like nuts and sea foods . I would suggest you to consult oral pathologist for proper examination . Doctor will examine carefully to rule out certain conditions mention above . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics , anti inflammatory or vitamin B 12 supplement . For now do warm saline rinses several times a day and maintain proper oral hygiene .
