I have a skin break out on my face for two or more months. So far prescribed creams has not been effective. I have a prescription for prednisone 5 mg for a month starting with 5 per day for 7 days, then 4 per day for 7 days, etc. I have been diagnosed with mild form of lupus that consist mostly of joint pain and no skin rashes. Medication for lupus is apo-hydroxyquine 200 mg twice a day. The question is whether or not it is safe to take prednisone.
Hi. I have gone through your query and understand your concern. At This point i would like to bring it to your notice that each medicine had is own side effect profile. Some are less and some are more. In case of steroid such as prednisolone it is a double edged sword. It is a magical drug, but if abused can give a lot of side effects hence the drug should always be taken against guidance of your physician because they will weigh the risk and benefit and only then give you the medication. In lupus erythematosus this drug does wonders and hence prescribed. I hope your doubts have been clarified. Feel free to ask if there are anymore. Regards
