recently i lost a very good friend of mine since 10 years. after this loss, i am struggling real hard to cope up with the day to day affairs. I was so terribly dependent on this friend, that i cannot take any decisions on my own now. Every moment i have a fear within me which i am clueless of. i fear everyone. i forget things often. i have lost weight and i do not feel hungry at all. this loss has made me paralysed. not a single moment i am not away from the thought of my beloved friend. i feel this is more of neurons problem rather psychiatrist issue. pls advise. my age is 29. i do not have any serious medical history except had stomach ulcer.
You developed the symptoms after death of your friend. Now you have symptoms like forgetfulness, loss of weight, change in appetite, anxiety symptoms. These symptoms are probably due to adjustment disorder developed after death of your friend. The problem of memory can also be explained by depression. Due to depression lack of focus and concentration develops which ultimately present as loss of memory. These symptoms occur due to pseudo dementia. Consult a psychiatrist for proper treatment. Ignoring the symptoms or not accepting them will only worsen the situation.
In depression medicines like SSRIs as Sertraline, Fluoxetine etc are used. Cognitive therapy with proper psychologist also helps to improve the symptoms.
Thanks, hope this helps you.
